During Bun Festival, Sun Ferry Services Company Limited (“Sun Ferry”) will provide additional sailings plying between Central and Cheung Chau to facilitate the crowd flow.

One of the festival highlights, the “Cheung Chau Bun Festival Grand Parade” will start at around 1:30pm on 26 May 2023 and the expected peak period of passenger influx to Cheung Chau will be from 10am to 1pm. During this period, Sun Ferry will deploy all available vessels to channelise the passenger flow and the maximum hourly carrying capacity is expected to increase to around 200%, at about six departures per hour. In connection with the “Bun Scrambling Competition”, another attention-getting event that is going to be held at midnight of 27 May, Sun Ferry will provide an additional ordinary-ferry sailing departing at 1:15am from Cheung Chau to Central after the competition (Regular fast-ferry sailings departing at 2:20am and 5:10am from Cheung Chau are still available afterwards according to the normal sailing schedules).

Citizens going to Cheung Chau during the Festival are encouraged to take the ferries to Cheung Chau before the peak period, i.e. between 8am and before 10am and follow the instructions of pier staff and Hong Kong Police for embarkation patiently.
