It takes around 45 minutes to travel from Mui Wo Pier to Tai O. A reminiscent of the old Hong Kong, Tai O gives tourists the impression of a traditional fishing village lined with waterways, stilt houses, sampans and timeless heritage and culture.
In the old days, the villagers’ livelihood depended on salt pans, which could still be seen today. Now they earn a living by making salted fish and shrimp paste, offering famous local produce to those who enjoy a taste of the sea.
